4 celebrities that use PRP therapy
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) is gaining more and more popularity as the years go by. If you have never heard of PRP before, it is a non-invasive process that takes a few vials of your own blood and puts them in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins at a high speed in order to separate out the platelets and plasma from red blood cells. Then a bunch of needles are stuck in your face and the platelet-rich plasma is poured into the holes that were created by the needles. The idea being the plasma will drain into the holes created by the needles.
The overall premise to this procedure is that it infuses the body with platelets, which contain factors that contribute to growth, which will help heal your body quicker. The actual science as to whether this procedure works or not is still up for debate, but with as many celebrities who are getting it done, there has to be something good about it.
PRP has been claimed to effectively treat multiple (unrelated) injuries such as hamstring, hip/knee arthritis, patellar tendinitis and rotator cuff injuries. It has also been claimed that PRP Therapy has excellent skin rejuvenation properties as well. Let’s take a look at 5 celebrities who have undergone PRP treatments.
Kim underwent PRP treatment in the form of a procedure more commonly referred to as a “Vampire facial”. Many needles were stuck inside her face, then her blood was drawn and went through the centrifuge then was re-applied to the micro needle holes that were made in her face. The end result was a more youthful look and radiant glow.
Kobe took PRP Therapy so serious that he flew to Germany (from his home in Newport Beach, California) on a regular basis. It makes sense considering PRP was developed by a German doctor. The Los Angeles Lakers medical staff approved this procedure, noting that it had worked for Bryant many times before. Byrant suffers from a degenerative knee condition and PRP helped him recover quicker from surgeries.
A-rod himself underwent PRP therapy after hip surgery in 2009. He claims that PRP allowed him to get back into game playing shape quicker than his doctor had originally anticipated. Rodriguez went through a total of 5 PRP Therapy sessions. He was overheard remarking that the treatments were responsible for making him feel better again in a very short period of time.
Rounding up this list is Angelina Jolie. Much like Kim Kardashian, Jolie underwent the same Vampire Facial treatment. It was her hope that the treatment would improve collagen production in her face. Collagen is the stuff that keeps young people’s faces looking tight and youthful. The end result of Jolies PRP Therapy was a vibrant, more youthful look and feel to her face.
